Wendy Graves has been teaching physics and mathematics at Rainy River Community College for the past 11 years.
She has recently been active in the development of the Rainy River Basin Water Resources Center.  Water quality
monitoring research is an integral part of the science curriculum at Rainy River Community College and Wendy uses
this as an active learning tool in her courses.

Don has been teaching biology and environmental science for the Minnesota State Colleges and University system
in northeastern Minnesota for the past 18 years.  In collaboration with the science department faculty at
Rainy River Community College, he has been actively involved in promoting scientific research for lower division
undergraduate students through the use of water quality monitoring on Rainy Lake.

  • River Watch Director for the Big Fork River Board.  Oversee two high schools in monitoring 7 sites on Rainy River
  • Current Chair of the Big Fork Citizens Advisory Board to the River Board
  • Chair of the Citizen committee on the Rainy River Basin group
  • Kinghurst Township official and on the Board of the Itasca County Township Association -  Representative on the County Water Plan Implementation Committee.  (Current Chair)
  • Founding member and current Board Secretary for the Rivers Council of Minnesota.

Previous salt water activity as an officer in the U.S. Submarine Service for 21 years.

Kelli is one of the Canadian representatives on this committee, whose role with the Lake of the Woods District
Property Owners Association is to aid in the development and implementation of their environmental programs
and to establish partnerships in Canada and with the U.S. on watershed-related issues.  The Water Resources
Centre is meant to be an international endeavor and representation from Canada, therefore, is key.
The Lake of the Woods District Property Owners Association has a long history of promoting research and good
environmental practices within the Lake of the Woods watershed.

Andrew is as an Environmental Scientist with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.  The Inland Lakes
Group (ILG) has been actively involved in water quality monitoring and research in the Lake of the Woods Basin
over the past several years.  The ILG recognizes that defensible science and education initiatives will
be required to address water quality issues in the Rainy River and Lake of the Woods basins.  In boundary
waters, these goals can only be achieved through international partnership.  This is the model proposed by
the Water Resources Centre.

Larry Kallemeyn is the aquatic biologist at the USGS-International Falls Biological Station, which is based at
the Voyageurs National Park's headquarters. The IFBS is part of the USGS-Columbia Environmental Research Center's
field station branch.  Larry has been working on the boreal lakes and reservoirs at Voyageurs NP for 25 years,
and since the mid 1990s he has also conducted studies at Isle Royale National Park.  In addition to fisheries
investigations, he has been actively involved in limnological, contaminants, and other aquatic ecology studies.

Nolan is the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s lead for the Rainy River Basin.  One of his responsibilities
is to assist the Rainy River Basin Committee with implementation of the Basin Plan.  Development of the Rainy
River Basin Water Resources Center in one of the highest priorities for the Basin Committee, toward that end Nolan
is working with the other committee members to make the Water Resources Center a reality.

Melissa works primarily with the Lake Superior Beach Monitoring Program of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency,
handling database and application development, and information technology support.  She has worked previously
for the Rainy River Basin Planning process, by developing a database for the BID Bibliography Resources, as well as
developing the context and layout of MPCA's Rainy River Basin web page.
